“A family of organisations in Buckingham and Winslow working together, encouraging people to continue improving their wellbeing and that of the community"
The Buckingham Way started as a small group of GPs and other health professionals along with representatives from education and the voluntary sector. The aim was to explore ways in which Buckingham and Winslow could improve its wellbeing through offering everyone involvement in the community.
Over just a few months we:
- shared ideas and visions
- discovered we have much in common
- really enjoyed getting to know one another
- realised that there must be lots of people in Buckingham and Winslow who feel the same way as we do.
- discovered dynamic synergies
Getting to know one another and working together, research shows, actually promotes good health and not only that, but those who roll up their sleeves and get stuck in are also less likely to be unemployed.
Family is the second word in our vision statement and as a concept aptly describes the Buckingham Way… a group of individuals who have not initially chosen to be part of each other but who, nevertheless, by dint of their community spirit, find themselves thrust in to the company of other like-minded individuals. Of course, there’s a challenge here, but there’s also the great privilege of being in a family where you look out for others and they look out for you… it’s good to belong.
